Kevin Love is seemingly preparing for his teammate's departure from the Miami Heat.
After Heat star Jimmy Butler reportedly requested a trade from Miami, Love posted Boyz II Men's "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday" on his Instagram. One of the photos featured Butler, Love, Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry photoshopped over a Boyz II Men album cover.
Of the four players Love included on the photoshopped album cover, three are still with the Heat. Lowry was traded to the Charlotte Hornets last season before agreeing to a buyout and joining the Philadelphia 76ers.
Love has gotten to know Butler well after spending the last few seasons with him in Miami. He joined Butler's Heat during the 2022-23 season after he was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
All signs point to Love and Butler going separate ways this year, though, as Butler "is open to playing anywhere other than Miami," according to ESPN's Shams Charania and Brian Windhorst.
Butler said he wants to get "his joy back playing basketball" after the Heat's loss to the Pacers on Thursday.
"I want to see me getting my joy back playing basketball. Wherever that may be, we'll find out here pretty soon," Butler said. "I'm happy here off the court, but I want to be back to somewhat dominant, I want to hoop and I want to help this team win, and right now I'm not doing it."
When asked whether he can get his joy back with Miami, Butler said, "Probably not."
While Love would prefer to continue playing with Butler, the Heat will likely field plenty of offers for the six-time All-Star. Butler isn't playing his best basketball this season, putting up 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, but he could still be a difference-maker for a team on the brink of contending for a championship.
