Video: A.J Brown Throws McKee's 1st TD Pass Ball into Stands; Eagles Get Ball Back
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown made a crucial mistake during the team's game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, launching Tanner McKee's first career touchdown ball into the crowd before realizing its significance.
McKee, a second-year quarterback, threw his first touchdown on an impressive 20-yard pass to Brown late in the third quarter.
The 27-year-old Brown quickly realized his mistake on the sideline, throwing his hands up to his head in disbelief. He promised the fan his game-worn jersey in exchange for the ball's return and kept true to his word, delivering the signed, game-worn jersey after the game.
With the help of Eagles employee Dom DiSandro, a.k.a. "Big Dom," the ball was retrieved from the crowd and returned to the 24-year-old quarterback.
McKee stepped in for second-string quarterback Kenny Pickett who exited Sunday's game with a rib injury, according to the Eagles.
Pickett was starting in place of franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts, who suffered a concussion during the Eagles' 36-33 loss to Washington in Week 16.
McKee, the former Stanford Cardinal, was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft after spending three years at Stanford.
