Lamar Jackson Apologizes to Ravens Defense for Ruining Shutout with Safety vs. Texans

Andrew PetersDec 25, 2024

The Baltimore Ravens' defense was nearly perfect in every aspect in Wednesday's win over the Houston Texans.

They gave 211 yards of total offense, had an interception and didn't allow any points from Houston's offense.

Still, there was no shutout for the Ravens.

The Texans managed to get on the board on the other side of the ball. Houston forced running back Derrick Henry into his own endzone for a safety in the second quarter, giving the Texans their only two points of the contest.

After the game, quarterback Lamar Jackson apologized to the defense for ruining their shutout.

"They've been playing lights out the last few games," he said. "I believe it started in practice for those guys, just communicating and preparing for the games. Like I said, I'm sorry for the two points, we're sorry, the offense is sorry."

Though Jackson and Baltimore's offense couldn't help the defense shut the Texans out, the star quarterback made up for it with a strong performance. He had 168 passing yards and two touchdowns and added 87 rushing yards and a score on the ground.

Henry, who gave up the safety, also held his own, racking up 147 rushing yards and a touchdown.
