QB Mikey Keene Commits to Michigan in CFB Transfer Portal After Leaving Fresno State

Timothy RappDec 23, 2024

Former Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene told Hayes Fawcett of On3 on Monday that he is transferring to the Michigan Wolverines for the 2025 season.

He was considered the No. 407 player available in the transfer portal during this window, according to 247Sports.

Keene is now heading to his third school in his college career.

He played for the UCF Knights between the 2021-22 seasons, throwing for 2,377 yards, 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 15 games, completing 65.6 percent of his passes.

He then spent the past two seasons with Fresno State, throwing for 5,868 yards, 42 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 24 contests, completing 68.7 percent of his passes.

The fact that he had double-digit interceptions in each of his two season with the Bulldogs is something of a concern, though he did complete 70.5 percent of his passes in the 2024 campaign.

Keene likey will be the frontrunner to win the starting job for the Wolverines next season. Quarterback was a huge issue for the team in 2024, as the Wolverines suffered through the struggles of Davis Warren (1,126 yards, six touchdowns, nine interceptions), Jack Tuttle (306 yards, one touchdown, two picks) and Alex Orji (148 yards, three touchdowns, one interception).

One player to watch, of course, is incoming 5-star freshman Bryce Underwood. Michigan might prefer to give him a season of development before throwing him to the Big Ten wolves, however.

Another player who will merit consideration is Jadyn Davis, a 4-star quarterback from the Class of 2024. But Michigan clearly wanted an experienced bridge option for next season.
