Report: Lakers' Bronny James Recalled for Pistons Game After NBA G League Showcase

After playing in two games for the South Bay Lakers in the G League Showcase in Orlando last week, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James is reportedly set to rejoin the team's main roster.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, "James and Maxwell Lewis were recalled by the Lakers from South Bay on Sunday with the expectation that they will be uniform for the Lakers' home date Monday" against the Detroit Pistons.

James produced 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals on Thursday in a 98-90 loss to the Greensboro Swarm. Lewis, who was also on assignment, added 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in the loss. In Saturday's 120-104 win over the Osceola Magic, Lewis had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists while James finished with six points and seven assists.

South Bay doesn't play again until Friday with back-to-back road games against the Cleveland Charge, opening up the window for James and Lewis to get some experience with the main roster. South Bay's next home game is on Jan. 7 against the Delaware Blue Coats.

The recalling of James and Lewis comes after the Lakers released their injury report for Monday's game revealing that Anthony Davis and James' dad LeBron James are both questionable. Davis suffered a left elbow contusion while James is dealing with left foot injury management.

Despite an inconsistent start, the Lakers rank first in the Pacific Division with a 16-12 record. Los Angeles has won three straight games entering Monday's matchup with Detroit (12-17).

Perhaps Bronny James will get the opportunity to see some time on the floor against the Pistons while the banged-up Lakers try to extend their win streak.
