Kenny Pickett underwent X-rays after suffering a rib injury in the Philadelphia Eagles' 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN's Tim McManus.

Pickett took over at quarterback for an injured Jalen Hurts, who exited the first quarter and was later ruled out with a concussion.

Hurts exited midway through the first quarter after his head collided with the turf following a hit from Commanders' linebacker Frankie Luvu, who made contact after Hurts completed a 13-yard run.

Coach Nick Sirianni said post-game about Jalen Hurts, "I haven't talked to the medical staff yet, so I don't have any updates on any of that stuff."

Pickett stepped in and completed 14-of-24 passes for 143 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the loss.

Following the game, Pickett revealed that he had suffered a rib injury and would undergo further tests on Monday after being wrestled down in the backfield by Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner, per McManus. Despite the injury, he stayed in the game and completed a drive that resulted in a successful field goal, giving the Eagles a 30-28 lead late in the fourth quarter.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown had praise for the 26-year-old quarterback, noting his poise and maturity despite being in just his third year in the league.

"I'm happy that [Pickett] came in because that gives him confidence, regardless if we got the win or loss," Brown said, per McManus. "God forbid anything happens [with Hurts in the future]; he came in and he got the experience."
