Video: LeBron James Cheers on OSU vs. Tennessee in Locker Room After Lakers' Win
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James didn't forget about his favorite college football team on Saturday night.
Following the Lakers 103-99 victory over the Sacramento Kings, James was following along with the Ohio State-Tennessee College Football Playoff matchup in the locker room while speaking with reporters. He expressed excitement at Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson's 29-yard touchdown run to give Ohio State a 21-0 lead over the Volunteers.
While James did not attend Ohio State, he grew up in the Ohio and has revealed that he would have chosen the Buckeyes if he attended college. James was the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, which was one of the final NBA Draft's that allowed players to be selected directly out of high school.
James has supported the Buckeyes program in the past, having been on the sideline for numerous games and even donating cleats to the football team this season.
The Buckeyes are competing for the chance to take on Oregon in the Rose Bowl. The Buckeyes fell to the Ducks 32-31 earlier in the season.
James scored 32 points with seven rebounds and six assists in the victory, so the Buckeyes game clearly didn't impact his focus. However, he was able to return to being a fan following the victory and will hope his favorite program advances to that matchup against Oregon.
