Video: Daniel Dubois Crashes Ring After Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury, Eyes 'Revenge'
Daniel Dubois has demanded a rematch from Oleksandr Usyk after the Ukrainian fighter defeated Tyson Fury for the second time on Saturday in Saudi Arabia.
Usyk, who moved to 23-0 with the unanimous decision victory, was conducting a post-fight interview when Dubois locked eyes with him and called for another bout. Usyk notably defeated Dubois by ninth-round knockout in Aug. 2023.
Dubois was challenging for Usyk's WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF titles. In the fifth round, Luis Pabon said that Dubois landed an accidental low blow and gave Usyk five minutes to recover. Dubois strongly contested that it was a low blow and said he was "cheated out of victory."
Usyk later knocked Dubois in the eighth round before ending the fight in the ninth. Dubois appealed his loss, but the WBA upheld the decision.
Usyk seemed open to a rematch based on his response. Dubois currently holds the only heavyweight belt Usyk doesn't own at the moment (IBF). Usyk did have that belt at one point before giving that up. Dubois won the vacant title, so perhaps a unification matchup interests him.
For now, though, Usyk can bask in the glow of his victory.
