Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs Beat C.J. Stroud, Texans as Xavier Worthy Excites NFL Fans

The Kansas City Chiefs just keep on winning, and Patrick Mahomes keeps getting the most out of his playmakers.

The superstar quarterback completed passes to eight different receivers during Saturday's 27-19 win over the Houston Texans. Xavier Worthy led the way with seven catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

In total, Mahomes finished 28-of-41 for 260 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions, taking just one sack. He also rushed four times for 34 yards and a score.

But Worthy was his preferred target on Saturday and made his mark on a crucial touchdown drive in the third quarter, registering four touches for 46 yards and an eight-yard score.

The Chiefs, the two-time defending champions, have a feeling of inevitability about them this season. They continue winning tight games and have done so despite dealing with injuries to key offensive playmakers at various points throughout the year.

Now they are a win or a Buffalo Bills loss away from clinching the top overall seed in the AFC playoffs and homefield advantage. AFC contenders don't want to travel to Arrowhead Stadium in January—Mahomes is 10-2 at home in the playoffs over the course of his career.

The development of the speedy Worthy has helped alleviate the injuries to Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown, the former out for the season and the latter sidelined until making his Chiefs' debut on Saturday.

Kansas City has just chugged along, no matter who was available. They haven't always won pretty, but so long as they have Mahomes, Andy Reid and a stout defensive unit, they'll probably keep on winning.
