Video: Bronny James Posts 6 Points, 7 Assists in Lakers' G-League Showcase Win
Bronny James and the South Bay Lakers dominated the Osceola Magic in a 120-104 win on Saturday for their first victory in the 2024 G League Showcase.
James' individual performance was up and down, as he finished with six points on 3-of-7 shooting (0-of-3 from three), four rebounds, seven assists and six turnovers.
The best part of James' day was primarily his passing. Three of his assists came early in the third quarter when the Lakers really took control of the game.
Bronny also showed off one of his dad's signature moves with a chase-down block on Ethan Thompson in the fourth quarter.
Even though this was James' worst scoring performance since becoming a regular in the G League earlier this month, the overall numbers from his last five games are very encouraging.
Bronny is averaging 16.8 points on 41.3 percent shooting (33-of-80), 3.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game in five starts since Dec. 7.
The Lakers included James on their roster for the G League Showcase as part of the NBA club's plan with his representatives to continue his development in a high-profile event that features personnel and scouts from all 30 teams in attendance.
South Bay had a slow start to the event with a 98-90 loss to the Greensboro Swarm on Thursday. The win over the Magic on Saturday was a nice bounce back for the Lakers.
James and the Lakers are now off until Dec. 27 when they will close out the calendar year with back-to-back road games against the Cleveland Charge. The Lakers' next home game isn't until Jan. 7 against the Delaware Blue Coats.
