Lane Kiffin Trolls CFP Committee Amid SMU's 28-Point Halftime Deficit vs. Penn State

For the second time in as many days, Lane Kiffin trolled the College Football Playoff Committee for leaving out Ole Miss.

On Friday, he took aim at the Committee for putting Indiana in the CFP over Ole Miss after Notre Dame beat the Hoosiers, 27-17, and led 27-3 at one point:

He followed that up with another post on Saturday after Penn State took a 28-0 lead over SMU into halftime:

A bit of online schadenfreude is always fun, though it doesn't change the fact that Kiffin's three-loss Ole Miss absolutely did not deserve a playoff spot over one-loss Indiana or a two-loss SMU that had one of its defeats come in the ACC Championship Game.

Now, if Ole Miss hadn't lost to 4-8 Kentucky or 8-5 Florida—or had pulled off an overtime win over 8-4 LSU rather than that tight loss—it would have been easier to make a case for them as deserving a playoff berth.

When there were only four playoff teams, it was a bit easier to understand the frustrations of very good teams who were left out as the CFP Committee was forced to compare and contract bodies of work.

But with 12 teams now reaching the Playoff, it's hard to feel much sympathy for three-loss SEC teams who didn't handle their business during the regular season. Georgia, Texas and Tennessee still managed to make it, after all.
