Barkley is on his way to a potentially historic season. He's leading the NFL in rushing with 1,688 rushing yards and he needs to average 139 per game over the final three weeks to tie Eric Dickerson's single-season record.

Through Allen has emerged as the favorite in the race, there's still a chance for the 27-year-old to be the first running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012 to be named the NFL's Most Valuable Player.

The voting returns are a sign of how Barkley has at least probably been the most buzzworthy star in the league.

From a team perspective, the Pro Bowl returns also point to how the Detroit Lions have consistently been near the top of the league pyramid from Week 1 on. They have four players sitting atop the positional breakdown, and in the case of offensive tackle and guard, they have the top two players.

Voting for the Pro Bowl Games for fans will conclude on Dec. 23. Then, players and coaches will get to cast a vote Dec. 27. The final results are a combination of the three voting groups put together.

It's safe to assume at this point that Barkley will be the starting running back for the NFC.
