Video: Tyson Fury Says He Hasn't Spoken to His Wife in 3 Months Ahead of Usyk Fight

Tyson Fury has taken a strict approach in his preparation for his highly anticipated rematch against heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on Dec. 21.

Fury revealed in a recent interview that he cut off ties to his family over the last few months so he could put all of his focus into his training camp.

"I wish it was tonight and I was going home in the morning. It's been a long camp," Fury said. "I've been away from my wife and kids for three months, I've not spoken to Paris at all in three months, not one word. I've sacrificed a lot."

In May, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 24 years and the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era. After Fury activated his immediate rematch, the IBF stripped Usyk of his belt for a failure to face mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. The WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight titles will be on the line in Saturday's rematch at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The normally jovial Fury was much more measured in his answers during the interview. He expressed the utmost confidence that he would be able to avenge his May loss, which was the first loss in his professional career.

"I'm feeling very good and cannot wait for the fight Saturday night. I'm going to end it, end his career, this will be," he declared. "You'll never hear of Oleksandr Usyk again after this."

Fury's icy nature likely stems from the fact that he now understands the danger that Usyk presents. In their first fight, Fury got off to a strong start before Usyk mounted a comeback in the later rounds and scored a knockdown in the ninth round with a flurry of punches that had Fury stumbling into the ropes.

Fury's focus this time around could be the difference as he tries to regain his position atop the heavyweight mountain, but Usyk won't be giving up his belts easily. Fans can expect another exciting clash between two of the best boxers on the planet.
