Time for a Seth Rollins Heel Turn, Bron Breakker's WrestleMania Feud, More Raw Takes
The December 16 edition of WWE Raw at TD Garden in Boston saw multiple huge title matches and moments that have begun to build the hype for 2025.
CM Punk and Seth Rollins once more came to blows as they agreed to a match on the Raw premiere on Netflix on January 6.
The War Raiders dethroned The Judgment Day with some help from Damian Priest, completing their long journey back to the World Tag Team Championship.
Rhea Ripley told Liv Morgan that she was the new No. 1 contender to her Women's World Championship, setting the stage for their third battle for the title.
Bron Breakker put on another show-stealing performance in his successful defense of the Intercontinental Championship against Ludwig Kaiser.
This was a wild night of action highlighted by a much-needed title change on the road to Raw on Netflix.
Perfect Opportunity for Seth Rollins Heel Turn in CM Punk Feud
1 of 4The battle lines have been drawn in WWE, and much of it stems from where talent stand with The Bloodline.
Seth Rollins already denounced CM Punk, but The Best in the World choosing to work with Roman Reigns at Survivor Series: WarGames last month has further pushed The Visionary to hate Punk.
This feud is intensifying, and it seems Rollins may have more in common with Drew McIntyre than Sami Zayn these days.
This sets up perfectly for The Visionary to turn heel when his friends choose The Second City Saint over him.
This might eventually even push Rollins, McIntyre and Kevin Owens together; three men whose motivations closely align.
Rollins has spent enough time as one of WWE's leading babyfaces, and the top of the card is getting crowded. He's not quite as over as he once was and would find greater success embracing a darker side.
Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley 3 Must End Rivalry
2 of 4Rhea Ripley is officially the next woman up for Liv Morgan as expected, pushing Iyo Sky to the back of the line after her clean loss to the champion.
It is a disappointing move, but WWE clearly prioritizes the rivalry of Ripley and Morgan, which will be a key story going into the Royal Rumble season.
Whenever they finally clash again, it needs to be the last time.
This story has gone nowhere since SummerSlam when Dominik Mysterio turned on Mami.
It has dominated the conversation around the Raw women's division dating back to before WrestleMania 40 when Morgan returned from injury.
This isn't an angle with enough weight to last to WrestleMania 41, while Ripley and Morgan have other interesting possible rivals on the horizon.
Ideally, Ripley would win this final match to put the story to bed and turn to defending the World Women's Championship against the winner of the women's Royal Rumble match.
Meanwhile, Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez can go after the Women's Tag Team Championship and feud with Bianca Belair and Naomi as well as Damage CTRL and Pure Fusion Collective.
Bron Breakker Should Be John Cena's WrestleMania 41 Opponent
3 of 4John Cena will soon return, and the path is set for him to win the men's Royal Rumble match for a third time and then challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
However, another rival for The GOAT would make more sense and keep The Ring General free to feud with stars such as CM Punk and Seth Rollins heading into The Show of Shows on April 19-20.
Bron Breakker has been one of WWE's most valuable wrestlers of 2024, performing at a high level against all challengers.
The 27-year-old would get a major rub from working with Cena and be able to bring the best out of him in his final year of action.
While a 17th world title is an important milestone for the veteran's legacy, he has also never won the Intercontinental Championship.
This would finally make him a Grand Slam champion, a perfect hook for why the 47-year-old would want a shot at a powerhouse who may be too much for him.
Breakker's speed and power are a perfect match for Cena's strength, and he can work around The GOAT's limitations.
His first WrestleMania fighting a WWE icon would be a special milestone in his career and a major reward for a great 2024.
War Raiders Title Win Should Trigger Complete Overhaul of Tag Team Division
4 of 4While The Judgment Day survived the first challenge of The War Raiders, it was only right for Erik and Ivar to get a second chance.
It paid off, and the tag team division can finally move beyond The Judgment Day drama.
Even if Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh could be a great tandem, their World Tag Team Championship reign was never about the division but rather keeping gold in the possession of a struggling stable.
The Raiders can push the rest of the division, especially The New Day and The Creed Brothers to step up in the pursuit of gold.
A tag team division is only as strong as its competition, and the new champions will have plenty of fresh challengers knocking at the door for an opportunity.
Meanwhile, Bálor can move onto the final stage of his rivalry with Damian Priest while McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio and Carlito can focus on individual pursuits.
