Ohio State's Air Noland Enters Transfer Portal; Rated No. 4 QB in 2024 Class

Ohio State true freshman quarterback Air Noland's time with the Buckeyes is over less than a year after it began.

Noland told Hayes Fawcett of On3.com that he's entering the NCAA transfer portal. He was rated as a 4-star prospect and the No. 4 quarterback in the Class of 2024 in 247Sports' composite.

Noland was expected to be a member of a crowded quarterback room for the Buckeyes next season that would also include freshman transfer Julian Sayin and 5-star prospect Tavien St. Clair, the No. 3 overall player in the 2025 class. However, it appears that he wanted a clearer path to a starting job next season.

A 6'2", 195-pound signal-caller out of Fairburn, Georgia, Noland threw for 10,164 yards and 126 touchdowns over the course of four seasons at Langston Hughes High School. In 2022, he led the school to a perfect 15-0 record and its first state title in school history. His 55 passing touchdowns that year ranked second all-time in a single season in state football history and exceeded the best years of Trevor Lawrence (51) and Deshaun Watson (50).

247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins described Noland as "a potential point guard for a College Football Playoff contender that can push the pace and get his playmakers involved." Ivins added that he "has early-round NFL Draft upside, especially with his business-like mindset."

With four years of eligibility remaining, Noland could be one of the most intriguing quarterback options in the transfer portal this winter. Schools looking for a cornerstone to build around for the next few seasons will be motivated to add him to their roster.
