US Army All-American Bowl 2012: Cal and Notre Dame Trying to Crack the Top 10?
Of course we were all over the big commitments announced at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. We saw some big-time shockers and recruiting classes were affected.
The big winner undoubtedly was Cal. Berkley is booming right now as Cal received three huge commitments at the Army bowl.
Notre Dame also received a big-time pledge, as did Florida, and Miami notched two.
Let's check 'em out.
Golden Gets Two Huge Pick-Ups
1 of 4Now, Miami is lurking inside the top 15, but their class is a bit more quantity than quality.
The latter aspect got a huge boost, as Deon Bush and Tyriq McCord both became Hurricanes.
Huge gets for Al Golden, as he tries to finish his first full cycle in the 305 with a huge splash.
Bush and McCord join Duke Johnson and Jelani Hamilton as notable commits in the Miami class.
Florida Pulls Another One from the Tar Heel State
2 of 4With D.J. Humphries and Rhaheim Ledbetter already headed to Gainsville, Florida felt they wanted a triple scoop from the state of North Carolina. The flavor, you ask?
Jonathan Bullard, a 5-star 6'4", 250-pound defensive end.
That gives Will Muschamp another NC commit and 19 total pledges.
Florida not only has a top five class, but they could end up with the No.1 class on National Signing Day.
South Carolina and and Notre Dame Trying to Move Up the Rankings
3 of 4South Carolina nabbed Chaz Elder, a good safety prospect on Thursday night at the Under Armour game.
They got another boost to their back end at the US Army bowl, as Jordan Diggs also committed to Columbia.
Notre Dame had a top 10 class coming into the afternoon, and that will likely either remain unchanged or increase, as 4-star SS/OLB Elijah Shumate made it official with them.
Both the Gamecocks and Irish are trying to crack the top 10.
California Is Saturday's Big Winner
4 of 4The Golden Bears were thought to be on track for bottom half class in the Pac-12 alone just a few months ago. Now, they likely will finish with a top 10 class.
Cal got commitments Saturday afternoon from 5-star DB Shaquille Thompson, 5-star DT Ellis McCarthy, and 4-star WR Jordan Payton.
That's huge, and let's not forget, Cal was a huge winner at last year's Army game when they landed big stud DT Viliami Moala.
It's also a great chance the Bears also snatch up 5-star DE/OT Arik Armstead and 4-star DT Aziz Shittu before they're finished.
Wow.
