Glazer: Inside Eagles' Meeting on Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Brandon Graham Drama
Despite a week of drama, all is reportedly well for the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Insider Jay Glazer reported on the team meeting during Fox NFL Sunday, noting quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver A.J. Brown and defensive end Brandon Graham were specifically involved.
"They nipped that in the bud real quick there," Glazer said. "In a team meeting, A.J. and Jalen got up, dapped each other up, and said, 'We're good.' … Brandon Graham then got up, and he apologized to the entire team collectively, but he also went off and apologized individually and said, 'Man, I'm really sorry that I was a distraction this week.'"
The situation started after Brown expressed frustration during last Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers by slamming his helmet down after a 3-and-out and telling reporters "passing" was something the offense needed to improve.
He wasn't necessarily wrong considering the Eagles are 31st in the league in passing yards per game, but it was still a head-turning comment for an 11-2 team that has won nine in a row.
It also thrust focus on Hurts since he is the quarterback, especially when Graham went public discussing the relationship between the signal-caller and pass-catcher.
"They were friends before this, but things have changed, and I understand that because life happens," he said. "But, it's the business side that we have to make sure that we don't let the personal get in the way of the business, and that's what we gotta do better right now."
Yet Glazer's report adds more context to a situation that already seemed to clear up before Sunday.
Hurts and Brown both addressed the media Wednesday with the former saying they were "good" and pointing out Graham now "knows he spoke out of place."
Things seemed to have settled for Philadelphia, which is excellent news for the NFC East leader and its fans. It can now turn its attention back toward the football field and the race for the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.
The team is just one game behind the Detroit Lions in that battle for home-field advantage and the first-round bye and has a golden opportunity to perhaps make up that ground Sunday if it extends its winning streak to 10 with a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Detroit faces Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in a game that will be anything but easy, and the Eagles can keep the pressure on with yet another win.
