Tom Brady's Personal Memorabilia, Watch Collection Sells for $9M at Auction

Legendary quarterback Tom Brady had his personal memorabilia and watch collection auctioned off on Tuesday for an eye-popping total.

Per Eduardo Tansley of The Athletic, "The GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady" auction by Sotheby's in New York brought in a combined total of $9 million. Among the items in the auction were Brady's Super Bowl LI playcard wristband, his 2000 NFL Combine shirt, his final college jersey and multiple high-end watches.

Eight hundred participants from 45 countries took part in the auction, which featured 41 items to bid on. The highest-selling item was a yellow gold Rolex Daytona "John Player Special" that Brady wore when Patriots owner Robert Kraft informed him that he would be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame. The watch had the highest presale estimate of the collection with $600,000 to $900,000 and ultimately was sold for $1.14 million.

The final combined total of $9,004,800 surpassed the estimated $5.2-$8.9 million the collection was expected to generate. Brady's final jersey from his career at Michigan went for $792,000, significantly exceeding its estimated value of $300,000-$500,000.

"It has been truly gratifying to witness the warm reception from collectors and sports fans over the past few months," Brahm Wachter, Sotheby's Head of Modern Collectibles, said in a statement. "Regardless of their team allegiance, collectors eagerly gathered to admire these cherished mementos from Tom's iconic career, honoring and respecting the remarkable accomplishments of The GOAT."

Brady is now working as an NFL analyst for Fox in the first year of his 10-year, $375 million contract with the network. He will be on the call for Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.
