NFL Announces 1st-Ever Game in Berlin for 2025 International Series Schedule

Having already played games in Munich and Frankfurt, the NFL will add Berlin to its list of host sites in Germany next season.

The league announced on Wednesday that Olympic Stadium will host its first-ever regular-season game in 2025 as part of the NFL International Series.

The NFL played a record five international games this season, starting with a Week 1 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

Three games on the international schedule were played in London. The other was played at Allianz Arena in Munich on Nov. 10 when the Carolina Panthers defeated the New York Giants 20-17 in overtime.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on NFL Network's NFL Gameday Kickoff (h/t NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman) prior to the Munich game that the league was looking to hold eight international games in 2025:

"We are definitely going to Spain, we announced that. We expect to return to Mexico City. We expect to return to Brazil. We will certainly be back in the U.K. And we're also looking at the potential of another game in the U.K. area in Ireland, possibly. That's a possibility. And we'll certainly be back here in Germany. So if that total's eight, that's what we're shooting for."

The Berlin game will mark the fourth straight season the NFL has played in Germany. Allianz Arena hosted games in 2022 and 2024. Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt hosted games in consecutive weeks during the 2023 season.

Excluding the 2020 season with no international games due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL has played at least one game outside of the United States every year since 2007.

The NFL did not announce the teams that will be playing in Munich next season. That will likely be determined in the offseason as the league.
