Bryce Young Impresses NFL Fans Despite Panthers' Loss to Jalen Hurts, Eagles

Zach BacharDec 8, 2024

The Philadelphia Eagles took down the Carolina Panthers by the final score of 22-16 on Sunday, but Bryce Young continued his recent stretch of encouraging performances.

Young finished 19-of-34 for 191 yards and a touchdown to go along with an interception.

While he wasn't flawless, he repeatedly made plays against an Eagles defense that entered the contest allowing the fewest yards per game among all NFL teams.

Late in the fourth quarter, Young nearly led the Panthers on a go-ahead touchdown drive that started at their own two-yard line. After Carolina advanced to Philadelphia's 32-yard line, the 23-year-old launched a deep pass headed towards the end zone on second down.

Rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette wasn't able to make the catch, though. The Panthers couldn't move the chains on their next two plays, turning the ball over on downs and sealing the loss.

Still, fans were impressed with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft after he was benched earlier in the year.

For the Eagles, Jalen Hurts finished 14-of-21 for 108 yards and two touchdowns. He also picked up 59 yards and a third score on the ground.

In six games since he returned as Carolina's starter, Young has now thrown for 1,273 yards and seven touchdowns compared to four interceptions.

The Panthers fell to 3-10 with Sunday's defeat, but their future looks brighter with each passing week as the second-year quarterback continues to improve.
