Carson Beck to Undergo MRI on Injury Suffered in Georgia's SEC Title Win vs. Texas

Georgia's SEC Championship victory over Texas comes with some uncertainty at the quarterback position.

Starting quarterback Carson Beck suffered an injury just before halftime and exited the game. He did return for the team's final play after backup Gunner Stockton took a big hit, but he did not attempt a throw.

Following the 22-19 overtime victory, head coach Kirby Smart revealed that Beck had suffered an "upper extremity injury" and that he will get an MRI.

"Upper extremity injury," Smart said, per David Ubben of The Athletic. "We don't know to what extent. Said they looked at it and it looked OK but didn't have grip strength and couldn't throw."

Beck finished the game 7-of-13 for 56 yards while Stockton went 12-of-16 with 71 yards and an interception in relief. Georgia's offense relied heavily on running back Trevor Etienne's two touchdown day and a strong performance from the defense.

While it was enough to win the game, approaching a potential playoff game without Beck would be a tall task. He has thrown for 3,429 yards with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2024 and helped Georgia reach the title game with a 10-2 record.

The Conference Championship win will give Georgia a bye during the first round games and the Bulldogs will hope both Beck and Stockton will be ready in time. However, the upcoming MRI should provide some more clarity on the situation.
