Georgia's Carson Beck Out for SEC Title Game vs. Texas After Suffering Injury

Carson Beck was ruled out of No. 5 Georgia's clash with No. 2 Texas in the SEC Championship game on Saturday.

During the final play of the first half, Beck attempted to launch a deep pass but was hit by Longhorns defensive end Trey Moore. He fumbled the ball before it was recovered by Texas.

The Bulldogs quarterback limped off the field after the play and was later declared out for the remainder of the game with an undisclosed injury.

Georgia faced a 6-3 halftime deficit when he exited the contest.

Beck finished 7-of-13 for 56 yards prior to the injury. He was also sacked once.

Saturday's clash represented the second meeting between the Bulldogs and Longhorns this season. Georgia emerged victorious in the first matchup, winning by the final score of 30-15 on Oct. 19.

Beck was inconsistent despite the final result, recording 175 passing yards and three interceptions.

While the 23-year-old hasn't been as efficient in 2024 compared to his stellar 2023 campaign, he's still shown that he can be effective and has improved as the season has progressed.

Entering Saturday's conference title game, Beck completed 65.1 percent of his throws for 3,429 yards. His 28 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions are both the highest marks among all SEC signal-callers.

Beck's performances have been trending in a positive direction of late. He threw for 941 yards and 11 touchdowns without getting picked off through Georgia's past three games.

He was replaced by sophomore Gunner Stockton against the Longhorns on Saturday. Stockton has made three other appearances in 2024, completing 13 of his 16 attempts for 135 yards.

While the Bulldogs' College Football Playoff future is bright even if they aren't able to defeat Texas, the long-term health of Beck could impact their ability to advance in the new 12-team format.
