Kenny Clark Says Packers Will 'Definitely' Be Back to Face Lions in NFL Playoffs

Jack MurrayDec 6, 2024

The Green Bay Packers believe the third time could be the charm against the Detroit Lions.

On Thursday night, the Packers fell to the Lions, 34-31, and were officially swept by their division rival on the season. However, with the Lions already in the playoffs and the Packers well on their way there, Green Bay defensive lineman Kenny Clark said that the team is "excited" for the opportunity to clash again.

"We're definitely going to be back here and we'll be excited to play them again once we do," Clark said, per Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. "But it's tough, it's a tough loss. Gotta get better from here, and we will get better from here."

The Lions are currently 12-1 and hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Green Bay is third in the NFC North but sits at 9-4 and currently owns the No. 6 seed in the NFC. If both positions hold until the end of the season, Green Bay would travel to face the No. 3 seed and a victory in that game could set up a rematch with the Lions in the Divisional Round.

Detroit has won six of the last seven matchups between the two teams and has not fallen to Green Bay since November 2023. However, it's a tall task to beat a team three times in one season and Thursday's close score shows that the two foes are pretty evenly matched.

Detroit has clinched a postseason berth while Green Bay will need a few more wins to do that. However, the path toward a rematch is paved and it should make for a firework-filled showdown if it happens.
