Video: NBA's Jrue Holiday Says He'd Fight Jake Paul for $50M with 7 Months to Train

Andrew PetersDec 5, 2024

After watching last month's fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, Boston Celtics star Jrue Holiday is ready to get in the ring.

On Paul George's podcast, Podcast P with Paul George, Holiday said that with seven months to train, he would take on Paul for $50 million. He joked that he'd be capable of handling a fight like the one that took place between Paul and Tyson.

"That last little fight, I don't know nothing about nothing, but I could do that," he said. "We could pump it up a little bit, I'll take you through my whole training camp and all that. Once we get out there, Netflix will start messing up, so you can't really see a lot of the fight and I'll swing one time and then he just hit me. Alright, cool. $50 m's."

Holiday, a three-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member, is known for his quick hands and defensive abilities, which would likely translate from basketball to boxing.

Should Holiday ever decide to get into the ring, he wouldn't be the first NBA player-turned-boxer. A few former basketball players have found their way to the boxing world in recent years, with one even facing Paul.

Nate Robinson, an 11-year NBA veteran, lost to Paul via knockout in 2020 during the early years of Paul's boxing career.

In 2021, former NBA point guard Deron Williams defeated ex-NFL running back Frank Gore in an exhibition fight.

Holiday, fresh off his second NBA championship, will probably put his boxing career on the back burner for now as he chases another title with the Celtics, who are 18-4 through the first bit of the season.
