NFL MVP Race 2024-25: Latest Predictions After Updated Odds Entering Week 14
The 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player race is down to Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback surged ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles running back on the MVP odds board after his performance on Sunday night.
Allen and Barkley were closer together in MVP odds going into Week 13, but the Bills star now seems to have the upper hand in the discussion.
A few other quarterbacks are lingering behind Allen and Barkley in the MVP conversation.
Lamar Jackson's MVP case has been hurt by a few recent Baltimore Ravens losses, while Jared Goff has an outside chance if the Detroit Lions continue their incredible offensive pace.
Updated MVP Odds
1 of 4
Josh Allen (-225; bet $225 to win $100)
Saquon Barkley (+350; bet $100 to win $350)
Lamar Jackson (+900)
Jared Goff (+1200)
Patrick Mahomes (+2800)
Jalen Hurts (+6000)
1. Josh Allen
2 of 4
Allen's three-touchdown performance on Sunday night helped him gain separation from Barkley on the MVP odds board.
The Bills signal-caller was the MVP favorite going into Week 13, but he was much closer in odds with Barkley before the snow-covered home contest.
Allen doesn't rank in the top 10 in passing yards or in the top five in passing touchdowns, but his MVP case is more than about just statistics.
Buffalo was not expected to be competing for home-field advantage in the AFC after it revamped its offense, led by the departure of Stefon Diggs.
The Bills were supposed to be in the AFC wild-card mix at best because of their roster turnover, but Allen has elevated everyone on the offense.
Buffalo already has a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, and Allen's MVP case will only get stronger if he leads the Bills to a win over the Detroit Lions in Week 15.
2. Saquon Barkley
3 of 4
Barkley is aiming to become the first running back to win NFL MVP since Adrian Peterson in 2012.
The Eagles star is on pace to eclipse Peterson's numbers from his MVP campaign.
Peterson ran for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2012. Barkley currently leads the NFL with 1,499 rushing yards, and he's found the end zone on the ground on 11 occasions.
Barkley has run for over 100 yards in six of his last seven games for a Philadelphia team that has not lost since September.
The Eagles play four of their next five games at home, and only the Week 15 clash with Pittsburgh is viewed as a tough matchup.
Barkley has the potential to run up his statistics against the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys to build his case in comparison to Allen.
3. Jared Goff
4 of 4
Jared Goff is currently fourth on the NFL MVP odds board behind Lamar Jackson.
However, the Detroit Lions quarterback is trending in a better direction at the moment than his Baltimore counterpart.
Goff has 2,982 passing yards and 29 touchdowns inside a Detroit offense that has scored at least 20 points in every one of its 11 victories. He will be in the national spotlight over the next two weeks in matchups with the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo.
The 30-year-old has a better chance to contend for MVP compared to Jackson because he has two big opportunities in front of him and is the quarterback of the top team in the NFC.
Jackson and the Ravens just lost two key games to the Eagles and Steelers, and he could fall behind Goff while on his Week 14 bye.
