Jags' Trevor Lawrence Says He's 'Home and Feeling Better' After Brutal Hit vs. Texans

Andrew PetersDec 1, 2024

Trevor Lawrence is in good spirits after a scary injury left him concussed during Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback sent out a message to fans on Sunday night saying that he's back at home and is "feeling better."

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out / been praying for me," he wrote. "I'm home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all."

Late in the first half of the Jags' matchup against Houston, Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair hit Lawrence as he was attempting to slide following a six-yard run. The play resulted in a brief scuffle between the two teams followed by Al-Shaair being ejected for an illegal hit to the quarterback's head and neck area.

Lawrence was carted off the field and the team later announced that he suffered a concussion.

Though it's unclear whether Al-Shaair will face a suspension or a significant fine, he was fined $11,817 for unnecessary roughness after punching Bears running back Roschon Johnson earlier this year, which could play into how severe his punishment will be.

While Lawrence was in good spirits on Sunday, he'll likely have to miss time as a result of the scary hit.

Before Sunday's game against Houston, Lawrence had missed nearly a month of action due to a left shoulder injury. The fourth-year player has 2,004 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions through 10 games—a somewhat disappointing year considering the massive five-year, $275 million contract he signed this offseason.

The Jags season as a whole hasn't gone the way they would've liked. They fell to 2-10 with Sunday's loss and have little to play for with just five games remaining.
