'Madden NFL Cast' to Stream on Peacock for Texans vs. Mahomes, Chiefs in Week 16

Since ESPN has the Manningcast for Monday Night Football, Peacock is entering the alternate broadcast world by using the Madden NFL video game for its coverage of the Houston Texans-Kansas City Chiefs matchup in Week 16.

NBC announced a special Madden NFL cast for the showdown between the two AFC playoff contenders.

The special broadcast will combine live action with elements from the video game to provide viewers with "an immersive, data-powered live football experience that injects Madden NFL's unique brand elements as animated overlays."

Features from the video game that will be used include graphics, route trees, play cards and player ratings.

NBC Sports' Executive Producer of NFL Fred Gaudelli said the Madden NFL cast will "offer fans the ability to watch Madden NFL come to life like never before" on Peacock.

The Madden NFL cast will only be available on Peacock. Traditional coverage of the game will air on NBC.

Houston and Kansas City are currently leading their respective divisions. The Texans (7-5) have been trending in the wrong direction lately with three losses in their last four games, but they still hold a two game lead over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South.

The Chiefs (10-1) are one of two teams with just one loss, along with the Detroit Lions (11-1). They aren't dominating in the way they did at the peak of their ability in previous years, but Patrick Mahomes has a knack for winning games no matter the situation.

Peacock's Madden NFL cast game between the Texans and Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium will be played at 1 p.m. ET on Dec. 21.
