College Football Betting Odds Week 14: Picks Against the Spread for Top 25 Schedule

Joe TanseyNov 29, 2024

The Ohio State Buckeyes had three clear goals entering the 2024 college football season.

They can tick off the first of those on Saturday with a rivalry win over the Michigan Wolverines.

Michigan have had the upper hand in the last three meetings, which means most players on the OSU roster do not know what it's like to beat their rival.

Ryan Day's team has Big Ten and national championship aspirations as the No. 2 team in the country, but this is the most meaningful game before December for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State is rightfully close to a three-touchdown favorite against the reigning national champion and a huge win with a cover would deliver a statement to the rest of the college football contenders.

The Texas Longhorns are back in their most-heated rivalry for the first time in over a decade on Saturday night.

The clash with the Texas A&M Aggies carries high stakes since the winner will advance to the SEC Championship Game to play the Georgia Bulldogs.

A strong argument can be made in Ohio State's favor that it is the best team in the country.

The Buckeyes fell one point short against the top-ranked Oregon Ducks and handled two top-five matchups with the Penn State Nittany Lions and Indiana Hoosiers.

Saturday is the most meaningful regular-season game of them all, though, since Michigan has owned the rivalry in the last three years.

The Wolverines controlled the line of scrimmage in all three victories and put up 117 total points.

Michigan does not have the same dominant rushing attack it did under Jim Harbaugh, and Ohio State is one of eight FBS teams to concede less than 100 rushing yards per game.

Michigan is also in that group, but the one thing it can't do well is pass the ball, which is where the Buckeyes excel.

The wide receiver duo of Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka has the potential to tear apart the Michigan secondary and create a wide margin of victory that covers the spread.

Egbuka, a senior, has a touchdown in the last two years against Michigan and had 125 receiving yards two years ago at home against the Wolverines.

Michigan can't match Ohio State's elite wide receiver talent, and if it has to play from behind, it could get ugly for the Wolverines against a defense that allowed one team to score more than 15 points in 2024.

No. 3 Texas (-5) at No. 20 Texas A&M

Texas had one major concern in the buildup to the Texas A&M clash, but it appears Quinn Ewers will play.

The Longhorns quarterback was listed as probable with an ankle injury, a good sign that he will be close to full strength in College Station on Saturday night.

Ewers and the Texas offense have the potential to feast on a Texas A&M defense that has allowed 87 points in its last two SEC games.

The Aggies struggled to slow down both the Auburn Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks, who have less talent on their respective offensive rosters than the Longhorns.

Texas eclipsed the 30-point mark in eight of its 10 wins this season. The formula could be as simple as reach 30 points to win for the Longhorns.

The Texas defense has only allowed one 30-point concession all season in the loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

While A&M's offense looked strong with Marcel Reed at the helm, the Longhorns have had an answer for most offense they've faced.

A Texas win would not just give it the edge in the renewed rivalry, but it would also then have a chance to exact revenge on its single loss this season to Georgia in next week's SEC Championship Game.

Oklahoma State at No. 25 Colorado (-16.5)

Friday afternoon could be the last opportunity Travis Hunter has to impress the Heisman Trophy voters.

He is the clear favorite to win the award, but he will likely put a show just in case he needs to emphasize the difference between himself and Boise State's Ashton Jeanty.

Colorado should have plenty of opportunities to feed Hunter the ball on offense against an Oklahoma State Cowboys defense that hasn't stopped anything this season.

OK State has allowed at least 38 points in each of its last six games and is coming off a 56-point concession to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The Cowboys are one of two FBS teams that allow over 500 total yards per game. The other team is the winless Kent State Golden Flashes.

Shedeur Sanders should put up eye-popping numbers in the passing game, and if the Buffaloes defense just gets one or two stops, it could turn into a rout.

Colorado needs a win as well to stay alive in the hunt for the Big 12 Championship Game, but it needs at least two of the three other teams tied at the top of the conference to lose in Week 14 to avoid any tiebreakers, most of which are not in its favor.

The Buffaloes should act like Friday is their final game, and if that is the case, a major stat padding for Hunter could ensue against a poor OK State defense.
