Packers' Keisean Nixon Says 49ers' Injuries Are 'Not An Excuse' for Blowout Loss

The San Francisco 49ers were without multiple key starters in Sunday's 38-10 blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers, but Packers veteran cornerback Keisean Nixon believes that's not enough of a reason to take credit away from them for their dominant win.

"It's the NFL. It's not an excuse," Nixon told reporters after the game. "We didn't have our quarterback. We won three games, so we don't wanna hear that. We came to play. They should've came to play."

The 49ers were without starting quarterback Brock Purdy, three-time All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams and four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Nick Bosa in Sunday's game. San Francisco has also been missing star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who is out for the rest of the year with a torn ACL and MCL.

Still, Nixon wasn't alone in his assessment that San Francisco's injuries weren't the key factor in their disappointing performance.

"It's the NFL," Packers quarterback Jordan Love said after the game. "They've got other good players. We've had injuries. Guys are banged up. You've got to go find a way to win, no matter who's out there. It's tough for them, but we'll take the win."

In Purdy's absence, Brandon Allen got the start under center and threw for 199 yards, a touchdown and an interception while also losing a fumble. Star running back Christian McCaffrey was limited to 31 yards on 11 carries with a lost fumble as well.

The Packers got a special performance out of running back Josh Jacobs, who registered 26 carries for 106 yards and three touchdowns. Love threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

After improving to 8-3, the Packers will look to keep the momentum going when they meet the Miami Dolphins (5-6) on Thanksgiving Night this week.
