Lions vs. Saints: 5 Players Who Will Lead Saints to Victory

Bradlee RossJun 1, 2018

When the New Orleans Saints defeat the Detroit Lions on Sunday, it will be because five particular Saints had big games. These five "Big Easy" heroes will lead the Saints with their guns blazing into the second round.

Obviously, Drew Brees, the man who led the Saints on their most recent Super Bowl run, will be a huge factor in this game. But who else will step up big in the Superdome on Sunday?

Click on to find out.

Drew Brees

1 of 5

It's obvious who the biggest leader in this locker room is.

And why wouldn't he be? He set the record this season for passing yards in a single season (5,476 yards) and actually made people question whether or not Aaron Rodgers was the MVP.

He leads the second-best scoring offense in the league (34.2 PPG) and has led this franchise to a Super Bowl before with largely the same supporting cast.

Brees will come up big in this game, with at least 350 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Jimmy Graham

2 of 5

If it weren't for a guy named Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham would be the most prolific tight end in the NFL.

He's caught 99 passes for 1,310 yards and 11 touchdowns. He's clearly Drew Brees' favorite target, and since Brees will have a good day, that'll translate to a good day for Graham.

Look for Graham to have a triple-digit yardage day and a touchdown.

Marques Colston

3 of 5

Marques Colston is Drew Brees' second-favorite target. Colston is second on the team in receptions (80), yards (1,143) and receiving touchdowns (eight).

Colston helps balance the attack by giving Brees another dependable target opposite of Jimmy Graham. Look for Colston to stretch the field and help get other guys open against a Lions secondary that leaves much to be desired (239.4 passing yards per game).

Colston will have around 80 yards and a touchdown.

Roman Harper

4 of 5

Roman Harper is the leader of this aggressive Saints' defense. From the safety position, he's led the team in tackles (95) and sacks (7.5).

The Saints are an aggressive team defensively that use blitzes and lots of pressure to confuse opposing quarterbacks and offenses. Harper will be a big part of that effort against the Lions' Matthew Stafford.

Harper will have at least seven tackles and one sack.

Darren Sproles

5 of 5

The addition of Darren Sproles in the offseason as a free agent has taken this offense to a whole different level.

In his first season as a Saint, Sproles has been as balanced as they come. He leads the team in rushing with 603 yards (6.9 yard per carry) and has accumulated 710 receiving yards. His total for touchdowns this season is 10.

Sproles is one of the most versatile players in football and will be in this game against the Lions as well. Look for him to have around 80 rushing yards, 50 receiving yards and one score, leading the Saints to big win over the Lions.
