Eagles Rumors: Bryce Huff to Undergo 'Procedure' on Wrist Injury amid Limited Snaps

Doric SamNov 20, 2024

Amid his lackluster first season with the Philadelphia Eagles, edge rusher Bryce Huff reportedly suffered another setback.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Wednesday that Huff will undergo a procedure to address a wrist injury he's been playing through. McLane added that the procedure "would provide the best opportunity" for Huff to return to play near the end of the season.

Huff, who signed a three-year deal with the Eagles after spending the first four years of his career with the New York Jets, has struggled to see the field during the 2024 season. Per Pro Football Reference, he's only played in 36.6 percent of Philadelphia's defensive snaps this year. He's seen less than 15 defensive snaps in each of the last three games, including a season-low six snaps in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this month.

An undrafted free agent out of Memphis, Huff made a name for himself as a situational pass rusher for the Jets. In his final season with the team in 2023, he racked up career-bests of 29 total tackles and 10 sacks.

Unfortunately, Huff hasn't been as effective in his time on the field with the Eagles. Through 10 games, he's totaled just 10 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Philadelphia has relied on a committee approach to rush the quarterback, as 12 different players have recorded at least half of a sack this season, led by linebacker Josh Sweat's six sacks.

The Eagles are 8-2 and riding a six-game win streak into their Sunday Night Football showdown against the Los Angeles Rams this week, so it seems unlikely that the team will change its approach anytime soon. Huff will need to get used to his lack of playing time while Philadelphia continues to succeed.
