Video: Andre Iguodala Tells Kai Cenat Steph Curry Was Supposed to Win NBA Finals MVP

Former Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala revealed that he was surprised to receive 2015 NBA Finals MVP honors instead of teammate Stephen Curry.

"I don't know why they gave it to me, they were supposed to give it to Steph," Iguodala said during an appearance on a stream from Twitch star Kai Cenat.

The Warriors won their first of four championships with Curry in 2015, taking down LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games.

The superstar point guard averaged 26.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game on 44.3/38.5/88.5 shooting splits throughout the series.

As for Iguodala, he recorded 16.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 52.1 percent from the field against Cleveland.

The Cavaliers jumped out to an early 2-1 series lead, prompting Warriors head coach Steve Kerr to change his starting lineup. In Game 4, Iguodala replaced center Andrew Bogut.

Golden State emerged victorious in each game since the change to win the series.

While James still averaged 30.7 points per game in three contests following the lineup adjustment, he shot just 39.3 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from behind the arc (via Basketball Reference).

Curry wasn't named Finals MVP that year, but he earned the honor during the Warriors' championship victory against the Boston Celtics in 2022.

Iguodala believes that his former teammate was deserving of the award much earlier, though.
