Ashton Jeanty, Boise State Beat SJSU as CFB Fans Think RB Saved Heisman, CFP Chances

Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty kept his Heisman hopes alive on Saturday, helping lead the team to a 41-21 victory over the San Jose State Spartans.

Despite a quieter game compared to the rest of his season, Jeanty helped the No. 13-ranked Broncos improve to an impressive 9-1 record. After a slow start, recording just 63 yards midway through the third quarter, he erupted in the fourth quarter to secure Boise State's comeback victory.

Jeanty finished with 32 carries for 159 yards and three touchdowns in Boise State's victory. Quarterback Maddux Madsen stepped up as well, completing 22-of-30 passes for 286 yards and one touchdown.

The Broncos' win was crucial for keeping their playoff hopes alive, but they will likely need to win their final two games to secure a spot, currently sitting in the 12th and final seed in the latest playoff bracket.

Last weekend, Jeanty moved into second place on the FBS all-time rushing yards in a single season list, trailing only the legendary Barry Sanders who recorded 2,628 yards with 27 touchdowns during the Oklahoma State Cowboys 1988 season.

Following Saturday evening's game, Jeanty has amassed 1,893 total yards and 26 touchdowns this season, containing the top spot in the NCAA for both total yards and touchdowns.

Heisman Trophy discussions have largely become a two-way battle between Jeanty and Colorado Buffaloes' Travis Hunter, with Jeanty's comeback performance in the fourth quarter boosting his standing among fans on social media.

Next Saturday, the Broncos will look to extend their win-streak as they face the 2-8 Wyoming Cowboys on the road.
