Jets' Sauce Gardner Says He 'Re-Deleted' Social Media Apps After Viral Interactions

Timothy RappNov 14, 2024

For the second time in as many months, New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner has deleted his social media accounts.

"Me being a leader of the team, of the defense, I can't be on social media with my emotions saying certain stuff. I know better," he told reporters Wednesday. "My coaches know that I know better. My teammates know that I know better. I've just got to be better."

Gardner had a heated response to someone in his DMs and also responded sarcastically to a post from ESPN's Rich Cimini regarding a missed tackle. He said Wednesday that he apologized to a reporter for one of his responses and was "going to do everything in my power" to help the 3-7 Jets turn their season around.

He previously deleted his social media in early October, a response to the negativity surrounding the team after a 2-3 start.

Since that time, the Jets have gone completely off the rails, including Sunday's 31-6 blowout loss against the Arizona Cardinals. New York could still technically turn its season around, but it would probably take at least six wins in the final seven games and some help to even have a shot at a playoff berth. Currently, the Jets are two games back of the 5-5 Denver Broncos for the final Wild Card berth in the AFC.
