Bijan Robinson Reacts to Saquon Barkley Reverse Hurdle Video: 'I Gotta Try This'

Scott PolacekNov 12, 2024

Saquon Barkley's viral hurdle of Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones during the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 9 win was so unbelievable that it had one of the league's best running backs questioning whether it really happened.

"When he did that, I was watching it and at first I was like, 'ain't no way that just happened,'" Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson said during a Tuesday appearance on The Rich Eisen Show (5:20 mark).

"I was like, 'that couldn't have happened. He didn't jump over him. He probably jumped on the side of him.' But then when I saw the replay and he jumped completely over him, I was like, 'yeah I gotta try this.'"

Barkley caught a pass, juked past one defender, spun past another and then cleared Jones with a reverse hurdle that wouldn't have even been realistic in a video game.

It was a stunning play and the highlight of his incredible performance during Philadelphia's 28-23 win. He finished with 199 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in the showing.

"Saquon's play, what I think is so cool, is there are going to be kids all over the country and all over Philadelphia—I really think about that—trying to make that play and talking about that play and simulating that play as they play backyard football or Pee Wee Football," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters.

It's not just children who want to simulate the play.

Robinson also wants to see if he can pull it off, which is an exciting notion for NFL fans since he might be one of the only other people on the planet capable of doing such a thing. And it would be the equivalent of lightning striking twice this football season if he unleashed the move in a game.
