Eddie Hearn Blasts Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Fight, Calls It 'Disrespectful' to Boxing

The highly anticipated fight between heavyweight legend Mike Tyson and YouTuber Jake Paul is just days away on Nov. 15, but some detractors still believe it should not be a sanctioned boxing match.

Per ESPN's Mike Coppinger, longtime promoter Eddie Hearn voiced his displeasure with the upcoming fight that will be the first combat sports event to be broadcast live on Netflix.

"...You only need to speak to him and look at him to know this guy should not be in a ring again," Hearn said of Tyson. "... If I was Jake Paul, I'd just feel a little bit embarrassed to be honest with you. ... This is dangerous, irresponsible and, in my opinion, disrespectful to the sport of boxing."

Despite the 31-year age gap between the 58-year-old Tyson and the 27-year-old Paul, Friday's fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be an official match that counts toward both of their professional records. Tyson, the former heavyweight champion known for his incredible knockout power, hasn't fought since an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. that ended in a draw in November 2020.

Hearn will be in attendance for the event to support his fighter Katie Taylor, who will be defending her undisputed lightweight titles in an exciting rematch against Amanda Serrano in the co-main event. However, he said he will leave his ringside seat before the Tyson-Paul fight because he refuses to support a fight with a boxer of Tyson's age.

Still, Friday's event is expected to draw a significant audience, with many hoping to see Tyson put on a throwback performance and halt the momentum of Paul. However, that may be wishful thinking, since the youngster is 10-1 with seven wins by knockout.
