Georgia HC Smart: Jake Pope 'an Idiot' for Video Celebrating with Ole Miss After Loss
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart didn't take kindly to Bulldogs defensive back Jake Pope reveling in the team's 28-10 upset at the hands of Ole Miss.
A video circulating on social media showed Pope jumping around and smiling at the end of the game:

"What an idiot. Just stupid," Smart told reporters Monday regarding the situation.
He added that Pope is "embarrassed by it."
Pope issued an apology on social media, saying that "this is not representative of who I am in any way." He said the people who walked up to him were family friends who he hadn't expected to see, hence his reaction.
Beyond being family friends, it's unclear who Pope was with in the video, but one woman is wearing the name and number of Rebels offensive lineman Reece McIntyre. Pope and McIntyre both graduated from Buford High School in Georgia.
A 4-star recruit coming out of high school, Pope is in his first year at UGA after transferring from Alabama. In two years with the Crimson Tide, he made 12 appearances, mostly on special teams. The Georgia native didn't see the field in the Ole Miss defeat. His last action came in the 34-20 win over Florida on Nov. 2.
Fans can often be far too judgmental about how players are behaving on the sidelines. The fact that Georgia quarterback Carson Beck was caught on the television broadcast briefly smiling in the fourth quarter against Ole Miss spawned its own storyline.
But Pope's "celebration" looked bad no matter how you cut it.
