Video: KOC Tells Sam Darnold Vikings Know 'You're the F--king Guy' to Lead Offense
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell made it clear he still has full faith in Sam Darnold following a season-worst performance in Sunday's 12-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Darnold went 24-of-38 for 241 yards and three interceptions. The Vikings prevailed on the strength of their defense, which held Jacksonville to 143 total yards.
In his postgame speech inside the locker room, O'Connell highlighted the defensive effort but made sure to tell Darnold that "everyone in this locker room knows you are the f--king guy that's gonna take us there."

Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
A lot of fans have been wondering whether the bottom would fall out for Darnold because the way he started the season was such an improvement over his first six years in the NFL. Especially after Sunday, it's harder to avoid the conclusion that regression is happening.
Through Minnesota's first four games, Darnold threw for 932 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions with a 118.9 passer rating. In his last five starts, he has 1,209 yards but six touchdowns to seven interceptions and an 85.7 QB rating.
In 2019, the 27-year-old infamously said he was "seeing ghosts" as a way to explain why he was rushing some of his throws and making questionable decisions. It kind of looks like that's what's happening now.
With rookie J.J. McCarthy sidelined for the entire season, the Vikings are pretty much all in with Darnold. Nick Mullens would be the next quarterback up if O'Connell made a change for whatever reason, and it became clear last year the 29-year-old isn't a viable starting option. The Vikings were 0-3 with Mullens at the helm and he had eight interceptions in five appearances.
As much as Darnold is going backward on the field, he's far and away still the best choice to lead the offense.
