Kenny Moore Rips Colts Teammates for Not 'Working as Hard as Possible' After Loss
The Indianapolis Colts lost to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, 30-20, dropping them to 4-6 on the season, and veteran defensive back Kenny Moore didn't pull any punches after the disappointing performance.
"I don't think everybody is working as hard as possible, and obviously it's showing," he told reporters. "I'm not the type to sugarcoat it, obviously. I don't think the urgency is there. I don't think the details are there. I don't think the effort is there. I don't see everything correlating from meetings to practice to the games, and it shows."
Sunday's loss was truly a team effort.
The defense gave up 415 yards of total offense and allowed the Bills to convert at a 7-of-14 rate on third downs and 2-of-3 on fourth downs. The offense had four turnovers, all from quarterback Joe Flacco (three interceptions, one fumble).
It was Indy's third straight loss, with matchups against the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and New England Patriots on deck before a Week 14 bye. If the Colts can't win at least two of those games, a playoff berth will likely be out of reach.
"You've got to define yourself, you've got to define the identity of the team," Moore told reporters when asked how he could help the Colts turn things around as one of the leaders. "We've got to look ourselves in the mirror and ask ourselves how bad we want it."
The talk around the Colts, of course, will be whether the team turned over the reins to Flacco too quickly, costing Anthony Richardson valuable developmental time. Going 0-2 since naming Flacco the starter has only added fuel to those flames.
"Until I say otherwise, Joe's our guy right now," head coach Shane Steichen told reporters after the game, saying he never considered benching Flacco for Richardson on Sunday. "(He's) a guy that's a veteran guy. We've had two games that we'd like to have back. ... Right now, Joe's the guy."
Flacco hasn't been the only issue in the past two losses, but his six turnovers in those games have put the entire team in a tough spot. From the sound of it, however, Moore wants to see the entire roster take more accountability.
