Jaguars' Mac Jones Trolled by NFL Fans After 3 Late Turnovers in Loss to Vikings

Doric SamNov 10, 2024

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones had the opportunity to prove his doubters wrong in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings while filling in for starter Trevor Lawrence, who missed the game with a shoulder injury.

After a promising start, Jones regressed back to what he showed in his first three years in the NFL with the New England Patriots as the Jaguars went on to suffer a 12-7 loss in front of disappointed home fans at EverBank Stadium, falling to 2-8.

On Jacksonville's second possession of the game, Jones engineered a nine-play, 70-yard drive that ended with him punching in a short rushing touchdown. Unfortunately, that was the only moment of positivity for the Jaguars offense.

Jones ended the game with turnovers on back-to-back-to-back possessions. After the Vikings took a 9-7 lead on a go-ahead field goal, Jones fumbled the ball on Jacksonville's own 27-yard line, allowing Minnesota to extend its lead with another field goal. Despite playing in a one-possession game and still having the chance to win, he squandered it with two straight interceptions.

In all, Jones went 14-of-22 for 111 yards with two picks, a rushing score and a lost fumble. The Jaguars defense had a solid performance with three interceptions off Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, but the team's offense failed to capitalize.

Fans on social media didn't hesitate to call out Jones for his disappointing performance in Sunday's loss:

Jones grew up in Jacksonville, so Sunday's performance was far from what he was hoping for in his first start in his hometown. He will be a free agent at the end of the season, and he didn't do much to convince the Jaguars to bring him back.

Jacksonville will try to end its three-game losing streak next Sunday in a tough matchup against the Detroit Lions.
