LeBron James Dreamed He Was Playing for Coach K at Duke Before Snoop, Dr. Dre Concert
Duke fans have surely dreamed of LeBron James playing for the Blue Devils in the past.
Well, now the King has dreamed of it as well.
James took to social media Sunday morning and said he dreamed he was playing for legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. He said it "was an honor to suit up" for the former Duke coach, although the dream took quite the turn when a concert featuring Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre broke out:
The Los Angeles Lakers star never played collegiately and went straight to the NBA from high school as the No. 1 overall pick of the 2003 draft.
There were no rules in place preventing high school graduates from jumping straight to the NBA at the time, although he has discussed in the past where he would have played if today's restrictions existed when he was making a decision.
James has said he would have played at his home state's school at Ohio State in the past, although he has also hinted he would have gone to Duke or North Carolina.
Krzyzewski would have made quite the impression on the recruiting trail, and Ohio State, North Carolina and others may have been disappointed by the end result of the process. The Blue Devils also reached the Final Four during the 2003-04 season when James might have suited up for them, and it isn't difficult to envision him leading them one more step to a national title.
The future Hall of Famer at least got the opportunity to play for Krzyzewski later in his career.
Coach K led the United States men's national team to three straight Olympics gold medals in 2008, 2012 and 2016. James was a member of the 2008 Beijing team and 2012 London team, and neither of those squads lost in Olympic competition.
Basketball fans got the chance to see the legendary player suit up for the legendary coach in international play, but James taking the court in Cameron Indoor Stadium remains a thing of dreams.
