Mike Norvell, FSU Criticized by CFB Fans for Blowout Loss to Notre Dame, 1-9 Record
A bad season has gotten even worse for Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles.
The team fell to 1-9 on the season after a 52-3 dismantling at the hands of No. 10 Notre Dame on Saturday.
While the Fighting Irish could be a playoff-bound team, the result still shows how far away the Seminoles are from the elite of the college football landscape.
Fans took to social media to blast head coach Mike Norvell after the team's complete collapse from a 13-1 season in 2023 to the current 1-9 record in 2024.
The product on the field from the Seminoles was a complete disaster. The offense managed just 208 total yards, committed six penalties and turned the ball over twice. The Seminoles possessed the ball for 33:11 in the game yet only came away with three points.
Brock Glenn went 5-of-18 for 51 yards and two interceptions while Lawrance Toafili was the leading rusher with 77 yards on 16 carries.
The Fighting Irish torched the Seminoles for 453 total yards and quarterback Riley Leonard had 215 passing yards, 70 rushing yards and three total touchdowns.
With bowl contention long gone for the Seminoles, the only goal will be to finish the season strong. Florida State had not lost nine games in a season since 1974 prior to this year, but the lone victory does at least mean the team won't join a winless 1973 squad with the lowest win total ever.
