Video: Ole Miss Fans Tear Down Goal Posts After Upset Win vs. No. 3 Georgia
The goalposts at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium took a journey through Oxford following Ole Miss' upset victory over Georgia.
The delighted home crowd stormed the field following the 28-10 victory over the Bulldogs and fans notably tore down the goalposts in the celebration. In addition to the initial dismantling, the fans decided to take the structure for a victory lap around their college town.
The structure suffered significant damage during the celebration and was carried through the town by the students in different pieces.
The victory avenged a 52-17 loss to the Bulldogs from 2023 and was also the second consecutive time the Rebels defended home field against Georgia. Still, it was just the third time since 1996 that Ole Miss defeated the conference rival.
Georgia dropped to 7-2 and 5-2 within the SEC with the loss. Ole Miss has the same record but would hold a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Bulldogs if it came down to it for determining conference standings.
Seven teams in the conference have one or two losses at this stage and are alive in the hunt to reach the Conference Championship. Even if Ole Miss finishes just outside that game, the win over the Bulldogs should be quite the boost to the program's College Football Playoff resume.
