Video: OSU Band Trolls Michigan with Halftime Performance During Purdue Game

Andrew PetersNov 9, 2024

The rivalry matchup between Ohio State and Michigan is still a few weeks away, but the Buckeyes' band is already preparing for The Game.

During halftime of No. 2 Ohio State's matchup with Purdue on Saturday, the marching band trolled the Wolverines by forming into the shape of a bear and acting out the motions of that bear defecating on the Michigan logo.

Ohio State's rivalry with Michigan is one of the biggest and most historic in college football, so it's not much of a surprise to see the Buckeyes getting a head start on taking shots at the Wolverines.

It's just more salt in the wound for Michigan amid a disappointing season. After last year's national title, the Wolverines have started the year 5-4 in Sherrone Moore's first season at the helm.

With their hopes of reaching the College Football Playoffs long gone, the Wolverines are hoping to at least pick up a few more wins to become bowl-eligible, but it won't be easy. Michigan has a matchup with scorching-hot No. 8 Indiana on Saturday before its penultimate game against Northwestern. The Wolverines will close out the year against Ohio State, a game that is setting up to be very one-sided.

Since Ryan Day took over as head coach of Ohio State in 2019, he's beat Michigan just one time. The Wolverines have been one of the only stains on what has been an otherwise outstanding tenure.

While the stakes won't be as high for this year's meeting, it would be a big milestone for Day to take down Michigan.

As is true with most rivalries in college football, a win is never guaranteed, no matter how good or bad either opponent is. The Buckeyes must remember that in late November if they want to avoid an upset loss to the Wolverines.
