NFL Rumors: Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb's Shoulder Injury Not Serious; Could Play vs. Eagles

Joseph ZuckerNov 4, 2024

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffered a sprained AC joint in Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter reported that "the injury is not considered serious," and Lamb could still suit up in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram described the decorated pass-catcher as week-to-week and reported he'll "need to have a positive week of rehab and log at least one full practice by Saturday" in order to play against Philly.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, the prognosis wasn't as good for quarterback Dak Prescott. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Prescott could miss multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury.

The Cowboys have dropped three straight with their defeat to Atlanta. They've steadily lost ground in the playoff race to where ESPN.com gives them just a six percent chance of reaching the postseason.

Having Prescott go down is a massive blow because Cooper Rush is clearly a downgrade at the position. When he filled in as the starter in 2022, the 30-year-old averaged 191.2 yards per game with five touchdowns and three interceptions across five starts.

There isn't Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard in the backfield to help ease some of the burden on the passing game this time around, either. Dallas is 31st in rushing yards per game (82.0) and tied for 30th in yards per carry (3.8).

Not to mention, the Cowboys can't win on the strength of their defense when they're giving up more than 360 yards and 28 points per game.

Now imagine how the team might fare if both Prescott and Lamb were sidelined at the same time.

Prescott's injury on its own is enough to raise big questions over whether head coach Mike McCarthy can turn this around. The hard truth is that it may not matter all that much whether Lamb is good to go in Week 10.
