Jets Rumors: 'A Chance' Mike Williams Stays with NY Past 2024 NFL Trade Deadline
Mike Williams' tenure with the New York Jets may not be as close to ending as it seemed after the team acquired Davante Adams.
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there is "a chance" that Williams could remain with the Jets past the Nov. 5 trade deadline now that Allen Lazard has been placed on injured reserve.
After the Jets traded for Adams on Oct. 15, Williams skipped their first practice of that week for what the team said were personal reasons. He was back at their facility the next day despite not going a lot of work on the field.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported on the same day of the Adams deal that Williams was being shopped in trades by the Jets.
It made sense that he would be the odd-man out if a move was going to happen because Adams and Lazard already have an established chemistry with Aaron Rodgers when they were teammates with the Green Bay Packers.
Even though there were rumblings that teams were calling the Jets about Garrett Wilson, it would make no sense for them to deal him unless they received an absurd offer that was too good to pass up.
Lazard was placed on injured reserve prior to Thursday's game against the Houston Texans. He suffered a chest injury in the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 28-year-old will miss at least three more games before he can be activated off IR.
Williams has seen more playing time in the past two games with Lazard unavailable, but he hasn't been much of a factor. The 30-year-old played 41 snaps against the Texans—his most since Week 5—yet only finished with one catch for six yards on two targets.
The Jets are only paying Williams $1.3 million in base salary, so it wouldn't take much to move him if they wanted to go that route. But Lazard's absence for at least the next three games could make him more valuable to them than what they would get back in a trade.
