NFL Trade Rumors: Raiders 'Expected' to Stand Pat at 2024 Deadline After Adams Deal

Jack MurrayNov 1, 2024

The Las Vegas Raiders appear to be done with the trade market.

Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed of The Athletic reported that the Raiders plan to "stand pat" and not make any more moves beyond the Davante Adams trade before the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline:

"The Raiders traded away Davante Adams last month and have lost four straight games, so obviously when it comes to Tuesday's trade deadline, they are going to … sell, sell, sell! Nah. That doesn't really make sense. They're easily the worst team in the AFC West and barring a miraculous turnaround, the Raiders won't sniff the playoffs this year. Which is why the Raiders should stand pat. And, according to team sources, that's exactly what they're expected to do."

Tafur and Reed reported that the Raiders don't view their situation as a "full-scale tear down" and that the team believes it could become competitive in 2025 with a strong offseason.

Las Vegas is currently 2-6 and in last place in the AFC West. The franchise has lost four consecutive games. Trading Adams to the New York Jets on Oct. 15 netted the Raiders a conditional third-round pick.

While the roster isn't necessarily loaded with talent, a few pieces could garner draft capital and help the front office manage the offseason with more opportunities to find future core pieces. Defensive end Maxx Crosby could certainly be an intriguing option for many teams at the deadline, but the Raiders have been consistent in their desire to keep the three-time Pro Bowler.

Instead, it looks like the Raiders will try to get through the 2024 season as is and make a splash in the offseason that puts the team on track to contend in the AFC in 2025 and beyond.
