Warriors' Stephen Curry 'Making Good Progress,' Remains Out vs. Rockets with Injury

Scott PolacekNov 1, 2024

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will miss Saturday's game against the Houston Rockets as he continues to recover from a left peroneal strain, the team announced Friday.

Curry is "making good progress and, as a result, he has been cleared to return to segments of the team's practice" on Friday in Houston, the team said.

Curry has already missed the last two games with his ankle injury, although he was durable in 2023-24 and appeared in 74 games. That marked the most games he has played since the 2016-17 season when the Warriors took home a championship.

It is almost impossible to overstate how important Curry is for Golden State's hopes to compete in the daunting Western Conference.

He is the face of the franchise and one of the best players in NBA history. His resume includes four championships, two MVPs, two scoring titles and 10 All-Star nods, and he is widely considered the best shooter of all-time.

Curry is the clear-cut go-to option on a Warriors team that seems to be in the middle of two different eras with veterans such as Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins playing alongside a collective of younger players.

While Golden State will surely miss the Hall of Famer's production if he is sidelined much longer following his latest setback, look for the combination of Gary Payton II, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield to see more time as the team looks to remain afloat until its leader returns.
