Meshak Williams Injury Video: K-State Player Leaves Cotton Bowl After Scary Hit
Kansas State defensive end Meshak Williams fell victim to a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit with one of his own teammates in the 2012 Cotton Bowl against Arkansas, and ultimately had to be carted off the field.
The hit occurred shortly before the end of the half on a scramble by Razorbacks quarterback Tyler Wilson. Williams was in pursuit and appeared to have Wilson wrapped up, but linebacker Emmanuel Lamur flew into the picture and smacked his helmet right into Williams'.
You can watch the video of the hit above, but be warned it's not for the faint of heart.
The good news is that Williams appeared to be okay. Though he was taken off the field on a stretcher, he was able to give the crowd-packed Cowboys Stadium a Kansas State salute.
The news gets better. According to Jeff Burkhart of 1350 KMAN, Williams was taken to a nearby hospital and is reported to have movement in all his extremities. It's possible that he was lucky enough to escape his collision with Lamur with a minor injury.
If so, he should undoubtedly consider himself lucky. From the way Williams' head bent back on the hit, the damage could have been pretty bad.
Williams had a productive season for the Wildcats in 2011, totaling 27 tackles, seven sacks and eight tackles for loss. This was his first season at Kansas State after transferring over from Hutchinson Community College.
Williams starred as both a defensive end and a tight end in high school.
