Kerr Unsure of Warriors' Starting Lineup vs. Pelicans Amid Curry, Wiggins Injuries

Doric SamOct 28, 2024

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr isn't sure who will be in his starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

"I don't know who I'm gonna start tomorrow," Kerr told reporters Monday.

Kerr's comments come after the Warriors announced Stephen Curry suffered a left peroneal strain and would be reevaluated on Friday. De'Anthony Melton also suffered an injury and will be reevaluated Friday.

Andrew Wiggins is also considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pels with a lower back strain, Kerr told reporters.

Curry suffered a left ankle sprain early in the fourth quarter of Golden State's 112-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday that forced him to exit the game. Per ESPN's Kendra Andrews, Kerr initially described the injury as "mild or moderate."

The 36-year-old is averaging 18.3 points and 6.7 assists through three games this season while shooting 40.7 percent from beyond the arc. The Warriors had won their first two games of the year before falling to the Clippers.

Curry is leading a new-look Golden State squad that looks different from the dynasty that won four NBA championships in eight years. His longtime Splash Brother Klay Thompson departed in the offseason to join the Dallas Mavericks, and the Warriors added a slew of new faces to help replace his production.

Veteran sharpshooter Buddy Hield, backup point guard De'Anthony Melton and swingman Kyle Anderson are among the new additions for Golden State. The team is also expecting youngsters Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski to continue their development.

With Curry forced to miss time, Podziemski would be among the primary options to start in the backcourt alongside Andrew Wiggins, who will likely be the team's primary option on offense until Curry is able to return.
